May 09, 2025 (newstodate): The Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo has again expanded its cooperation with Norse Atlantic Airways with wet-lease of Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
Norse Atlantic Airways is thus to place another two Boeing 787-9 aircraft with IndiGo, completing the scope of six of its 15 Boeing 787-9 aircraft according to the LoI published November 29, 2024.
The additional two aircraft are expected to start operations by early 2026, serving long haul routes out of India.
The first aircraft was delivered in March and is already servicing IndiGo’s Delhi – Bangkok route.
In February 2025, IndiGo next signed a firm wet lease agreement for three more aircraft with Norse, slated to start operations from H2, 2025, on long haul routes out of India.
The initial term of the Agreement is six months, extendable to up to 18 months, subject to regulatory approvals, while both parties are committed to explore opportunities to further extend this period, subject to regulatory approvals
The agreement secures additional fixed long-term revenues for Norse Atlantic and reduces the company’s market risk, and is in accordance with Norse Atlantic’s strategy to create strong efficiencies through maximum utilization of the aircraft fleet, combining demand from both ACMI and own scheduled network.
IndiGo expects to see deliveries of its A350 aircraft starting in 2027, while in the meantime the wet-lease of 787-9 aircraft will allow it to open new key markets across Europe already from this year in competition to Air India.
