May 09, 2025 (newstodate): Since 2007, all airlines registered in Kyrgyzstan have been on the EU Black List, barring them from operating into EU markets.
And while making strenuous efforts over the last several years, the country has still not achieved its goal of being deleted from the list.
Now the Kyrgyz government has contracted Catalin Radu, former director of Kazakhstan's Aviation Administration and today Exec Dir Government and International Affairs with EACAC, to assist the country in its efforts to lift the country's airlines off the EU Black List as a commission from the EU will inspect Kyrgyzstan's civil aviation in May 2025 to report on the state of the country's civil aviation.
In October 2024, the Acting Director of the Kyrgyz State Civil Aviation Agency presented a report to the EU Commission on measures taken to improve the country's aviation sector, while requesting advisory assistance from EASA as part of preparations for the EU audit.
Today, Kyrgyzstan is home to seven all-cargo airlines with a fleet of 21 freighter aircraft that would constitute a significant boost in capacity to the booming China-Europe airfreight industry if allowed to access EU airspace and its markets.
