May 08, 2025 (newstodate): The ownership of the Danish regional aircraft lessor with HQ in Ireland, Nordic Aviation Capital, has now definitively changed hands.
In January 2025, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, DAE, announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire the entire stake in NAC - and the acquisition process has now been completed.
After the acquisition, DAE's total fleet comprises some 750 aircraft, including owned, managed and committed aircraft, making DAE the third-largest aircraft lessor globally by aircraft count.
Of these, approximately 650 are owned or managed and currently leased to 161 airline customers across 74 countries, while DAE also holds commitments to acquire a further 100 aircraft from major manufacturers including Boeing, Airbus and ATR, as well as from trading partners.
Established in 1990, NAC's fleet in September 2024 consisted of 252 owned and committed assets leased to around 60 airline customers in approximately 40 countries.
NAC completed its restructuring after exiting Chapter 11 protection in June 2022 and as an integral part of the restructuring process the fleet owned and controlled by NAC as well as its order book has been slimmed significantly.
At the end of 2022, the Group managed a fleet of 315 aircraft, compared to 480 by year-end 2021, and by the end of 2023 the fleet had further decreased to 270 aircraft including 265 for lease and five on finance lease contracts, while orders had been placed for 36 new aircraft including 16 ATR and 20 Airbus A220 aircraft.
