Apr 10, 2025 (newstodate): The US implementation of stiff tariffs on imports deals a blow to the country's airline industry.
As one example, Delta Airlines' Ed Bastian says that the carrier will defer any new aircraft deliveries that are impacted by tariffs.
The airline is due to receive 10 new Airbus aircraft in 2025, including A220, A321neo, A330neo, A350-900, and A350-1000 aircraft.
-But the one thing that you need to know we are very clear on is that we will not be paying tariffs on any aircraft deliveries we take. These times are pretty uncertain, the CEO tells US media.
-If a 20 percent incremental cost is put on top of an aircraft’s standard price, it gets very difficult to make that math work.
-We will defer any deliveries that have a tariff on it!
