Mar 10, 2025 (newstodate): Taiwan has signed an Air Services Agreement with Finland in Helsinki, marking the country's first such flight service agreement with a Nordic country.
Under the agreement, the Taiwanese and Finnish governments can each designate multiple companies to operate up to 14 weekly round-trip passenger flights, as well as similar rights to operate cargo services.
The signatures were added to the paper during a visit at the end of February 2025 by the General Director of Taiwan's CAA, heading a delegation also comprising representatives from China Airlines, EVA Airways and Starlux Airlines.
Prior to the signing of the Air Services Agreement with Finland, Taiwan had signed bilateral agreements with 57 countries or regions, with direct services available to 34 of them, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said in a report submitted to the Legislature in October 2024.
Earlier in 2022, Taiwanese media reported that Taiwan and Sweden were in the process of laying the foundation for inking an Air Services Agreement to pave the road for potential future direct air links between the two markets.
