Mar 04, 2024 (newstodate): SAS is planning for a return of flights of the route connecting Bosnia and Copenhagen this summer.
The carrier will thus be offering a weekly rotation between Copenhagen and Sarajevo from July 3, till August 31, 2024, totaling eight operations.
This will also mark the carrier's only route this summer between Scandinavia and capitals in ex-Yugoslavia.
SAS will, however, face competition from both Wizz Air and Norwegian.
Over time, many efforts have been made to secure traffic on the route between Sarajevo and Copenhagen, including airlines like SAS that last operated the route during the S-18 schedule only, and Norwegian with flights during the S-19 schedule to Sarajevo from four airports in Scandinavia - Copenhagen, Stockholm Arlanda, Gothenburg and Oslo.
During the early 2000s, SAS' ill-fated low-cost adventure Snowflake operated on the route for one season only; in 2004 a new Bosnian airline, Arnoro planned to start operations from June 11 from Sarajevo via Banjaluka to Copenhagen, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Oslo; in 2009, BH Airlines planned to open flights from Sarajevo to Copenhagen, Denmark, offering two weekly rotations, adding flights from May 13, 2009, to Gothenburg, Sweden.
