Mar 07, 2024 (newstodate): For Finnair, February 2024 was another month marked by growth in cargo volumes - albeit slightly less than the preceding month.
In February volumes were thus up by 13.9 percent, y-o-y, while growth in January '24 reached 17.5 percent, with the difference probably reflecting the two-day political strike at the beginning of February negatively impacting the traffic.
A total of 10,902 tonnes of cargo was thus carried by Finnair, with loads on the Asian lanes rising 16.1 percent, y-o-y, to 6,187 tonnes, while 1,831 tonnes on the M East lane in cooperation with Qatar Airways were down 7.1 percent, y-o-y.
During the first two months of 2024, Finnair Cargo has transported 22,016 tonnes of cargo, up 13.9 percent, with Asian traffic accounting for 12,427 tonnes - an increase by 20.4 percent, y-o-y.
In the first two months of pre-Covid 2019, Finnair generated a total of 23,619 tonnes of cargo, so the company now seems close to recovery from the corona disruption despite the new challenges in the form of Russia's war on Ukraine leading to the closure of Russian airspace.
