Mar 04, 2024 (newstodate): The new Faroese cargo carrier FarCargo has now officially announced March 5, 2024, as the day for start of operations.
With Billund Airport as its European hub, the carrier will be operating to Vagar Airport, on the Faroe Islands, continuing with Bakkafrost seafood export shipment to Newark Airport in the USA, with a fuel stop in Keflavik on Iceland.
Returning from Newark, the carrier will fly directly back to Billund Airport, with two rotations on the route for a start and increasing to five weekly rotations at a later stage in 2024.
The initial plan for a call at another European airport on the return trip to Billund has thus been shelved at this stage.
From Newark to Billund and further to the Faroe Islands, FarCargo has contracted NordicGSA as its GSA to sell the cargo capacity on behalf of FarCargo.
Purchased from AirSale, FarCargo's Boeing 757-200F is placed on the AOC of FarCargo's partner, West Atlantic Sweden, later to be added on an own FarCargo AOC as business matures.
