Feb 06, 2024 (newstodate): SAS has an important role to play in providing uplift for wounded Ukrainian victims of Russia's war.
The carrier has deployed one Boeing 737-700, the last of this type in the airline's fleet, to medivac flight operations from an evacuation center in Poland to hospitals around Europe.
The aircraft has been converted to this task equipped with medical facilities and hospital beds, and so far SAS has transported more than 2,000 patients and relatives on these flights, performing the 100th operation on February 1, 2024.
The flight operations are also supported by the Norwegian Armed Forces and Directorate of Health, with which SAS has a long-standing agreement extended for another nine months on February 2, 2024
