Feb 27, 2024 (newstodate): The Greek carrier Lumiwings aspired to become a frequent caller at Scandinavian airports in summer 2024 - but ambitions have cooled.
Starting from December 18, 2023, the carrier has been operating subsidized flights from its new base at Tuzla, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, to Swedish destinations Stockholm Skavsta Airport and Halmstad Airport, adding flights to Esbjerg Airport in Denmark from December 20, 2023.
But citing inadequate bookings, the carrier will now reduce frequencies on flights from Tuzla to Esbjerg, Halmstad, Maastricht and Saarbrucken from two to one weekly, while flights to Stockholm Skavsta have been fully axed.
In November 2023, Lumiwings emerged as the preferred bidder in a tender by Tuzla Airport aimed at subsidizing carriers for the launch of new routes to compensate for the loss of traffic after WIZZ Air retreated during the corona pandemic.
