Feb 15, 2024 (newstodate): From today, the Latvian carrier SmartLynx Airlines has a new CEO: Edvinas Demenius.
Certainly no newcomer to SmartLynx, serving with the company for close to seven years starting in July 2017, and since October 2023 in the position as SmartLynx COO.
Mr Demennius succeeds Zygimantas Surintas that has been in the CEO position since 2016.
Member of the Avia Solutions Group, SmartLynx has developed into the largest ACMI service provider in Europe with one-third of the market, also operating in the USA, North America, Asia, and Africa, holding AOCs in Latvia, Estonia, and Malta.
In the carrier's fleet today are 63 aircraft including 29 Airbus A320, four Airbus A330-300, 17 Airbus A321, 11 Airbus A321F, and nine Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
SmartLynx Airlines remains Latvia's largest airline, measured in size of fleet, beating #2 airBaltic that is today operating 47 aircraft in its fleet.
