Feb 19, 2024 (newstodate): According to Avinor, 2023 was record-breaking in terms of flown Norwegian seafood air cargo exports.
A total of 291,410 tonnes of seafood shipments were handled at the airport, an increase by five percent, y-o-y.
The rise in flown seafood cargo is also significant in marking a steep increase in the proportion of flown vs. trucked cargo in 2023 that saw the country's total export of seafood down by five percent.
In 2017, the proportion of flown seafood cargo at Oslo Airport was only around 30 percent, growing to 40 percent in 2018.
In 2023, USA ranked #1 in Norwegian seafood exports at 67,710 tonnes, followed by China with 47,244 tonnes, South Korea 30,744 tonnes, Japan 26,770 tonnes, Thailand 25,085 tonnes, Taiwan 15,079 tonnes, Hong Kong and Macao 14,099 tonnes, UAE 8,986 tonnes, Singapore 8,235 tonnes, and Israel 8,182 tonnes.
