Feb 06, 2024 (newstodate): Swedavia reports a sustained decrease in cargo volumes at its main airport, Stockholm Arlanda, in January 2024.
In the first month of this year, the airport handled a total of 7,909 tonnes of cargo, which was 8.5 percent down on January 2023.
Totals included 4,904 tonnes of exports, down 19 percent and 3,005 tonnes of imports that actually increased by 8.8 percent, y-o-y.
While certainly experiencing a drop in volumes, Swedavia still retains hopes for a turn for the better in 2024:
-We are looking forward to the opening of the important new flights by ANA from Tokyo starting from June 6, 2024, with three weekly rotations, as well as Air Canada's flights between Stockholm and Montreal to launch from June 14, 2024, also with three weekly rotations, says Jan-Olov Forss, Swedavia Head of Key Account Management, Passenger & Cargo.
-We also pin hopes on the three weekly flights by Lufthansa Cargo's Airbus A321F in 2024, all boding well for a rebound in cargo, says Mr Forss.
