Feb 29, 2024 (newstodate): Greenland will see the first Boeing 737 Max 8 flight operations in summer 2024.
Icelandair is thus planning to replace one of its two weekly Dash 8 Q400 services on the route connecting Keflavik and Kangerlussuaq with a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft during the period from July 6 till August 31, 2024, responding to increasing demands for tourist traffic to Greenland.
Icelandair is providing flights from Keflavik to four destinations in Greenland - Nuuk, Ilulissat, Kulusuk and Narsarsuaq, all served with Dash8 aircraft - but the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will probably find way to Nuuk Airport also as the new international airport with an extended runway is commissioned from November 2024.
In November 2023, Air Greenland inked a new interline agreement with Icelandair to bolster Greenland's air connectivity.
