Feb 22, 2024 (newstodate): The Faroese startup cargo carrier FarCargo has chosen a two-pronged strategy for sale of its ex-US cargo capacity.
Set up by the leading seafood exporter in the Faroe Islands, Bakkafrost, FarCargo's prime task is the transportation of the company's seafood into the US markets with Newark Int'l Airport as it gateway, routing the flight via Keflavik, in Iceland.
FarCargo has now contracted Nordic GSA as its sales agent for capacity from Newark International Airport in New York to Billund in Denmark and to the Faroe Islands.
At the same time, FarCargo has placed responsibility for sale of its cargo capacity from Newark to EU markets with Globe Air, like NordicGSA member of the ECS Group.
FarCargo flew into Copenhagen Airport for the first time on January 17, 2024, marking the start of test flight operations, later also comprising some intra-European cargo flights before launching regular flights on the planned route Vagar-Keflavik-New York Newark-Billund-Vagar.
Through third party freight forwarders, FarCargo will offer services to European and Faroese customers of the aircraft's 34 tonnes/230 m3 cargo capacity.
