Feb 12, 2024 (newstodate): After a rather depressing report on cargo volumes in 2023, Sweden's Jonkoping Airport saw a sound rebound in January '24.
A total of 311 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, up 13 percent, y-o-y.
The increase is mainly attributed to a rise in ad-hoc cargo flights, with cargo flights from notably Milan-Bergamo generating 85 tonnes of import shipments, compared to a mere 34 tonnes in January '23.
New in 2024 from January 2 were four in-night flights on the route from Karlsruhe via Jonkoping continuing to Esbjerg, Denmark, and returning directly to Karsruhe, operated by the Estonian cargo carrier Airest using SAAB 340A freighter aircraft.
Jonkoping Airport exited 2023 with a drop in volumes by 11 percent, y-o-y, to 3,072 tonnes of cargo and mail
