Feb 19, 2023 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines has now transferred the third aircraft to the fleet of its Maltese subsidiary, SkyUp MT.
The Boeing 737-800 joins the fleet of SkyUp MT to bolster capacity to the airline's strategy for operations in the EU market.
Based at Malta, ACMI and wet-lease provider SkyUp MT is free to operate in the EU market without any restrictions, whereas the mother company SkyUp Airlines still has to apply for special permits for each operation.
SkyUp MT has already obtained slots at Warsaw Chopin Airport as well as Poznan Airport for the 2024 summer season starting by April, allowing it to launch scheduled services to European airports.
The airline has also published a map showing preliminary plans for flights from Warsaw to destinations including Riga and Vilnius as well to Tivat, Tirana, Enfidha, Heraklion, Antalya and Larnaca, while some of these flights may be served on a charter basis only.
In the fleet of SkyUp MT are now three Boeing 737-700 and one 737-800 on the Maltese AOC, while the mother company SkyUp Airlines operates two 737-700 and five 737-800 on its Ukrainian AOC.
