Jan 22, 2024 (newstodate): The truly unique luxury airline BEOND is designed to carry hi-end tourists from Europe and the Middle East to the Maldive tourism spots.
   The airline performed its first flight between Munich and Male on November 15, 2023, with its so far single Airbus A319 with only 44 seats, compared to a normal seating of 150 passengers.
   Lately, the carrier has however also been chartered for other purposes with less affluent passengers: The Maldive government contracted BEOND for repatriation of 21 individuals from five families of fighters who had travelled to Syria to participate in its civil war, according to the Maldive Government's portal.
   BEOND performed the operation from Gaziantep in Turkey and landed at Male on January 15, 2024, after an en-route stop in Dubai.
   Heading the carrier as CEO is the Estonian national Tero Taskila, well-known in the Baltic aviation industry from earlier positions with companies including Estonian Air and airBaltic.
