Jan 31, 2024 (newstodate): Starting from July 1, 2024, Thai Airways is back in Norway with daily rotations on the route connecting Oslo and Bangkok.
This will however roughly coincide with its current Star Alliance partner SAS' shift from Star Alliance to the competing SkyTeam Alliance after the acquisition by KLM/Air France - cutting the close ties between the two airlines since the founding of Thai Airways in 1959.
Anyhow, Thai Airways will need a partner to provide feeder services in Norway to and from Oslo Airport, and the two airlines have inked a new code-share agreement for this purpose.
Thai Airways will thus add its prefix to SAS' flights between Oslo and Bergen, Haugesund, Kristansand, Stavanger and Trondheim.
Thai Airways earlier started operating flights to Oslo from June 15, 2009, but suspended all Scandinavian services from April 1, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic deepened.
