Jan 17, 2024 (newstodate): Yesterday, SAS announced the opening of flights to its 8th destination in the USA: Atlanta.
Starting from June 17, 2024, the carrier will be offering daily rotations between Copenhagen and Atlanta, SkyTeam's hub, with Airbus A330-300 aircraft, changing to five weekly rotations in the winter 2024/25 schedule using Airbus A350-900 on the route.
At the same time, SAS has also inked a code-share agreement with Delta Air Lines, facilitating SAS-passengers to continue flights on Delta routes through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
So far at least, Delta plans to reinstate flights from New York to Copenhagen from March 1, 2024, with daily rotations, reducing to four weekly rotations from April 10 to May 7, 2024. But sources expect Delta to change its route to year-round services.
In this coming summer traffic, SAS' route Copenhagen-New York will be served with up to two daily flights, complementing the existing daily flights to New York-Newark Airport from Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen.
Copenhagen to Boston flights will operate daily, up from six times a week during summer.
In addition, a fourth weekly flight will be added on the route from Copenhagen to Toronto.
