Jan 10, 2024 (newstodate): The Norwegian low-cost carrier Norse Atlantic Airways has downplayed its lofty ambitions for flights to North America.
In November 2023 Norse Atlantic Airways appointed Seabury Securities, U.K. as its strategic advisor to explore and guide the Nordic low-cost long-haul carrier’s future routes and destinations.
-The aim of this appointment is to strengthen our position in the market and enhance our strategic initiatives to meet the evolving landscape within the aviation industry, the carrier said in a filing.
Probably as a result of wise guidance from its advisor, Norse Atlantic Airways has now decided not to return to Boston and Washington from London Gatwick Airport during the forthcoming northern summer.
The airline had planned to operate daily flights to both Boston Logan International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport starting on March 31. However, but both routes have now been taken off the screen.
Instead, the carrier is now scheduling an increase in frequency to 10 weekly rotations from London Gatwick from May 27, 2024, against the currently daily flights.
Norse also plans to launch transatlantic service from Athens to New York JFK from May 30, 2024, with up to five weekly rotations, as well as adding flights between Paris CDG and Los Angeles and extending the now seasonal route connecting Oslo and Bangkok service into S'24.
With the first flight on June 14, 2022, Norse today operates a fleet of 15 Boeing 787 aircraft serving destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Boston, Washington, Boston, Jamaica, Barbados, Bangkok, Miami, Oslo, London, Berlin, Rome and Paris.
