Jan 08, 2024 (newstodate): This summer will see the return of flights between Korea and Croatia.
Croatia has long been a favorite leisure market for South Korean tourists traveling on Korean Air flights.
Last year already, hopes were to see the opening of flights between the two countries by a new operator - the Korean low-cost carrier T’Way Air that has been granted traffic rights between South Korea and Croatia.
Plans were to launch flights between Seoul and Zagreb already by June/July 2023 - but the operation was called off due to the Russian war on Ukraine.
Now, T'Way Air plans to operate flights from Seoul to Zagreb via Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, returning to Seoul nonstop, starting from July 2, 2024, and offering one weekly rotation with Airbus A330-300 aircraft for a start
Korean Air paid its first-ever visit to Croatia in September 2010, operating two chartered Boeing 777 flights from Seoul to Zagreb Airport on September 18 and 25, respectively, carrying Korean and other Asian tourists on their first visit to the country.
Korean Air next introduced summer flights to Croatia in 2014, and according to the air services agreement signed in 2015 between Croatia and South Korea, Korean Air would be allowed to operate up to seven weekly rotations between the two countries.
Replacing the seasonal summer flights, Korean Air introduced year-round services on the route from September 2018, but the flights were again downgraded to summer-only flights from 2019 - and these flights were then suspended as the Coronavirus hit the markets.
