Jan 17, 2024 (newstodate): Strong pressure in the Albanian market from competitors Wizz Air and Ryanair has induced the Albanian carrier Albawings to move traffic to Kosovo.
Based at Tirana, Albawings landing its AOC in February 2016 has so far focused on traffic between Albania and destinations in Italy with a fleet comprising three Boeing 737-400 aircraft.
But the intense completion from WIZZ Air and Ryanair that have both increased their frequencies and destinations, Albawings has now set up a new base at Prishtina, in Kosovo.
The carrier is to launch flights from Prishtina to 11 European destinations, primarily in Germany - but one of the coming new flights will be heading for Malmo, Sweden.
Flights to Malmo will commence on January 25, 2024, with Albawings offering two weekly rotations on the route.
