Jan 12, 2024 (newstodate): The Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure has now given its final approval for incentives in support of opening of new routes from Ljubljana.
Receiving the incentives will be Iberia and Norwegian that emerged as sole participants - and eventually winners - in the tender to lure airlines to establish new scheduled services as part of the efforts to bring back air connectivity in Slovenia after the bankruptcy of Adria Airways on October 1, 2019.
-The two carriers will now be notified that the funds have been approved, and the contracts will be harmonized in the next few days. Once this happens, the approximate financial resources that will be provided to each carrier will be made public, the Slovenian Minister for Infrastructure, Alenka Bratusek, told Slovenian media.
Norwegian is expected to introduce services from Copenhagen to Ljubljana by the end of April 2024, marking its first entry into the Slovenian market, while Iberia will return flights between Madrid and Ljubljana, suspended since 2021.
