Jan 09, 2024 (newstodate): While the FAA has grounded 170 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft following the recent incident at Alaska Airlines, the aircraft remains in the air by Icelandair.
Icelandair currently operates four Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, but they are not covered by the FAA action.
-We have been in contact with Boeing regarding the issue and have received confirmation that the incident is related to equipment that is not present in Icelandair's aircraft, Icelandair Group's communication manager confirms to Icelandic media.
FAA requires an immediate four to eight hours' inspection of the aircraft before they are allowed to take off.
