Jan 16, 2024 (newstodate): For 2023, Isavia reports an increase by 10.9 percent, y-o-y, in Iceland's air cargo volumes.
A total of 59,940 tonnes of cargo was handled at Keflavik Airport including 43,209 tonnes of cargo on freighter aircraft, while another 16,831 tonnes of cargo was transported in passenger aircraft belly holds.
Freighter cargo thus increased by 32.5 percent, y-o-y, while belly cargo volumes dropped by 21.8 percent in 2023.
The proportion of freighter cargo rose to 72 percent in 2023, up from 60 percent in the previous year.
In 2023, Iceland's air cargo imports increased by 9.5 percent, y-o-y, to 22,099 tonnes, while exports were up by 11.7 percent to 37,829 tonnes.
