Jan 02, 024 (newstodate): News broke shortly before Christmas that Thai Airways is finally to return services to Norway.
Starting from July 1, 2024, the carrier will introduce daily rotations on the route connecting Oslo and Bangkok with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft that will also add cargo capacity serving Norway's seafood exports to Asia.
Thai Airways started operating flights to Oslo from June 15, 2009, but suspended all Scandinavian services from April 1, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic deepened.
The carrier returned flights from Bangkok to Copenhagen again from July 17, 2021, and to Stockholm from October 2021 - while flights to Oslo thus remained missing for almost four years.
In the meantime, Norse Atlantic Airways has opened flights on its first Asian route from Oslo to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport with two weekly rotations with Boeing 787-9 aircraft starting from November 2, 2023.
Encouraged by a strong response in the Norwegian market, Norse even added a third weekly rotation during the period December 19, 2023-January 14, 2024, and around Easter 2024, March 19-30, 2024.
