Jan 18, 2024 (newstodate): At long last, the Faroese startup carrier FarCargo is now in the air.
FarCargo flew into Copenhagen Airport on January 17, 2024, marking the start of operations with a series of test flights and later possibly some intra-European cargo flights before launching regular flights on the planned route Vagar-Keflavik-New York Newark-Billund-Vagar, according to informationer earlier provided by Birgir Nielsen, FarCargo CEO.
Through third party freight forwarders, FarCargo will offer services to European and Faroese customers of the aircraft's 34 tonnes or 230 m3 of cargo capacity.
FarCargo has contracted NordicGSA to offer the cargo space to freight forwarders from Newark to Billund, and to the Faroe Islands. Customers can thus book cargo space through their local freight forwarder, who deals with Nordic GSA.
Purchased from AirSale, FarCargo's Boeing 757-200F is placed on the AOC of FarCargo's partner, West Atlantic Sweden, later to be added on an own FarCargo AOC as business matures.
