Jan 31, 2024 (newstodate): The Bulgarian cargo carrier Compass Cargo Airline has rounded a crucial milestone: FAA approval.
The US FAA has thus approved the carrier's application for rights to operate freighter services to the USA, sign ificantly expanding the company's market reach and service offerings.
A JV between the US company Mesa Air Group holding 49 percent of the stake in the carrier, and the UK company Gramercy Associates Ltd, Compass Cargo Airlines took delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-800SF, on August 9, 2021, leased from GA Telesis and registered to the Mesa Air Group in January 2021 as part of their contract to operate the aircraft for DHL.
In 2023, Compass Cargo Airlines increased its capabilities by acquiring a Boeing 747-400FSCD freighter, adding to its existing fleet of four leased Boeing 737-800SF converted freighters.
