Jan 26, 2024 (newstodate): A new airport infrastructure in Greenland with the opening of new Transatlantic airports bodes well for the country's future development.
Ahead of the official publication of Air Greenland's coming winter 2024/25 schedule reflecting the opening of Nuuk Airport by November 28, 2024, the carrier's CEO has unveiled part of the novelties to come in Greenlandic media.
Services from Nuuk to Copenhagen will increase from today's four to five weekly rotations that will be direct flights rather than via Kangerlussuaq as is the case now, and with two weekly flights between Nuuk and Keflavik on Iceland, Greenland's connectivity with international flights will grow to daily options in cooperation with other carriers.
Another salient highlight will be of special interest to cargo customers as Air Greenland will operate a daily morning connection with five Dash-8 aircraft from Nuuk to Maniitsoq, Sisimiut, Ilulissat, Kulusuk, Paamiut and Narsarsuaq to bring shipments for distribution in the regions to customers - and passengers back to Nuuk for onward Transatlantic connections. The operations will be repeated in the afternoon, bringing passengers from the Atlantic flights back to the regions.
