Sep 26, 2023 (newstodate): USA has now fully opened its skies for commercial scheduled passenger and cargo flights by the Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines.
SkyUp Airlines has thus received permission to operate on the territory of the USA with FAR129, a foreign air carrier certificate, and as part of the certification, the carrier received DOT approval - the permit to conduct business as an air carrier on the territory of the USA, TSA approval - approval of compliance with aviation security requirements for air transportation from, or to the territory of the USA, and FAA approval - Part129 Operations Specifications.
Armed with these approvals, SkyUp Airlines can now develop ACMI services and charter flights in the new market with four Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the airline's fleet submitted in the application to be cleared to fly in US airspace.
The process now successfully completed started on April 17, 2023, when the airline filed its application for an exemption and foreign air carrier permit to launch commercial scheduled operations between Europe and the American market - and having met no objections from interested parties in the industry, FAA approved the request for exemption on June 6, 2023.
