Sep 19, 2023 (newstodate): The Nordic capital airports are fighting hard to win back passenger traffic after the Covid-19 disruption starting from 2019.
Norway's Oslo Airport seems to be closest to the goal, handling 2,448,461 passengers in August 2023, which was 91.9 percent of the 2019-level.
Second-best was Denmark's Copenhagen Airport with 2,586,972 passengers, corresponding to 88 percent of the 2019-level.
Trailing close behind Copenhagen was Sweden's Stockholm Airport with 87.1 percent of 2019-levels, handling 2,122.557 passengers in August.
Finally, Finland's Helsinki Airport remains marked by both the Covid-19 disruptions and not least the closure of the Russian airspace after Russia's war on Ukraine from February 2022.
Consequently, Helsinki Airport has regained only 67 percent of the pre-COVID levels, seeing 1,356,733 passengers in August 2023.
