Sep 20, 2023 (newstodate): While plans have been revised several times since first aired one year ago, things are moving forward for the Faroese freighter service FarCargo.
According to information received today from the company, FarCargo now expects the Boeing 757-200 converted freighter to be ferried to the USA this week, with FarCargo's official takeover to take place by the end of October '23.
Purchased from AirSale, FarCargo's Boeing 757-200F placed on the AOC of FarCargo's partner, West Atlantic Sweden, left the paint shop in FarCargo's livery at Taikoo Xiamen Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd on June 10, 2023, awaiting final delivery.
According to insider information, the process has been running behind schedule on the seller's side, causing delays to the official take-over.
-Operations will start with test flights and possibly some intra-European cargo flights. And only thereafter FarCargo will launch regular flights on the planned route Vagar-Keflavik-New York Newark-Billund-Vagar, Birgir Nielsen, FarCargo CEO, earlier told newstodate.
FarCargo is part of the Bakkafrost Group, the country's leading exporter of fresh salmon to the US market.
