Sep 21, 2023 (newstodate): Since September 14, 2023, one of Novair's two Airbus A321neo aircraft has been parked for maintenance and return to its lessor at Prague Airport, signaling the end of the line for the carrier.
To compensate for this, Novia has taken in a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on a short-term wet-lease from GoSky, while the airline's second A321neo continues the final operations from Copenhagen under the contracts with tour operators Apollo and Bravo Tours, due to expire by the end of this summer schedule.
The tour operator Apollo's decision to cancel its existing cooperation with Novair with the last operation by the end of this summer's schedule dealt a heavy blow to the carrier's future, but Novair will anyway be closed down as a solvent company.
-Novair is in a strong financial situation with no debts, a sound cash balance, and a secured income till the end of October - all enabling us to secure profitable retirement plans for our employees. All staff and aircraft lessor have been fully informed of the situation, and all costs are covered, the airline's owner since April 2021, Danish investor Lars Thuesen, told newstodate in March 2023.
Novair lost its key contract with tour operator Apollo that has instead turned to the Swedish carrier BRA to provide Airbus A320 capacity for its charter operations under a three-year contract taking effect from the end of October 2023 when the current contract with Novair expires.
