Sep 14, 2023 (newstodate: Icelandair reports a strong financial performance of the Company’s passenger and leasing operations, with considerable year-on-year improvement.

-Furthermore, fuel price has increased almost 30 percent since then.
-The outlook for the passenger operation remains positive, with strong bookings for the remainder of the year. Equally, the outlook for the leasing business is favorable. Further actions are being taken to turn the cargo business around.
-Agreements for three new passenger aircraft have already been finalized for next year, which will create opportunities to expand the route network and increase capacity by around 10 percent, the release ends.
Starting from September 17, 2023, Icelandair Cargo will launch flights on a new route between Keflavik and Los Angeles, initially offering one weekly rotation with Boeing 767 freighter aircraft.
Icelandair Cargo has now two Boeing 767-300ER converted freighter aircraft in the fleet; the latest delivery took place on April 18, 2023, after cargo conversion by ST Aero’s center at Singapore’s Paya Lebar Airport.
After redelivery of the two Boeing 767-300 aircraft, two Boeing 757 freighters now in the fleet of Icelandair will be retired in 2023 and 2024, respectively, as their lease periods expire.
Compared to the Boeing 757-200F freighter still in service with Icelandair Cargo, the converted Boeing 767-300ER freighter offers up to 50 percent more cargo capacity and longer range.
