Sep 07, 2023 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo is to increase its freighter services to the US west coast thanks to the introduction of the larger Boeing 767-300BCF converted freighter aircraft.
Already from September 17, 2023, the carrier will launch flights on a new route between Keflavik and Los Angeles, initially offering one weekly rotation with Boeing 767 freighter aircraft.
Icelandair Cargo has now two Boeing 767-300ER converted freighter aircraft in the fleet; the latest delivery took place on April 18, 2023, after cargo conversion by ST Aero’s center at Singapore’s Paya Lebar Airport.
The conversion program started in May 2022 when Icelandair ferried the passenger aircraft serving the airline since 2016 to the conversion center.
After redelivery of the two Boeing 767-300 aircraft, two Boeing 757 freighters now in the fleet of Icelandair will be retired in 2023 and 2024, respectively, as their lease periods expire.
Compared to the Boeing 757-200F freighter still in service with Icelandair Cargo, the converted Boeing 767-300ER freighter offers up to 50 percent more cargo capacity and longer range.
