Sep 06, 2023 (newstodate): Many cargo figures increased year-on-year in August due to Qatar Airways cooperation and increased Asian capacity, even though discontinued operations between Sweden and the US cut North Atlantic cargo capacity, says Finnair commenting on its latest cargo statistics for August 2023.
In August '23, the carrier thus lifted a total of 10,864 tonnes of cargo which was an increase by no less than 18 percent, y-o-y.
With loads on the MEA route skyrocketing by 31,726.3 percent (sic!), volumes reached 1,969 tonnes, but with 5,735 tonnes loads on the Asian traffic also increased by 25.8 percent.
Due to the cut of Finnair's Stockholm-NAM traffic since November 2022, loads on this segment were down by 52.4 percent, to 1,224 tonnes in August, and Finnair also saw a drop by 2.5 percent in loads on its European routes, to 1,910 tonnes.
In the first eight months of this year, Finnair has transported a total of 86,677 tonnes which is an increase by 4.7 percent, y-o-y; loads on its Asian lanes have increased by 29.2 percent to 46,714 tonnes in this period.
