Sep 14, 2023 (newstodate): On September 13, 2023, Airbus launched its Airbus A321XLR Route Proving Program comprising a series of flights out of Europe as well as out of the USA.
   Besides demonstrating the aircraft to potential and confirmed airline customers, the flights will also be testing the maturity of the aircraft's systems and operational performance, contributing to its EASA Type Certification expected in 2024.
   Airbus has still not published the destinations slated to receive the touring aircraft.
   Among airlines that have already signed up for delivery of the new, small long-haul aircraft is Icelandair that signed an MoU in April 2023 for the purchase of 13 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, with purchase rights for another 12 aircraft.
