Aug 14, 2023 (newstodate): While China-US relations are still souring, a thaw is coming in passenger air services connecting the two large economies.
Restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 period are now to be lifted, allowing for a strong rebound in commercial flights from both sides, today limited to 12 weekly rotations for each country.
As of September 1, 2023, carriers from US and China will be allowed to operate an additional six weekly rotations between the two countries, and with the launch of the winter 2023/24 schedule from October 29, 2023, a further 24 rotations from each country will be added.
The additional flights will be operated by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines from the US side, while six Chinese carriers will share the market from the Chinese side.
