Aug 17, 2023 (newstodate): Georgia is growing in importance as a new market for tourism.
Among the country's airports, Kutaisi International Airport is seeing a dynamic growth in passenger volumes in 2023; in July 2023, the airport served 189,166 passengers, an increase by 123 percent, y-o-y.
The volume of flights also increased by 94 percent, y-o-y, to 517 operations.
Today, five airlines are operating at the airport with flights to 35 destinations in 18 countries.
Among these operators, Wizz Air added a third aircraft to its base at Kutaisi Airport, operating regular flights to Madrid, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Poznan.
Wizz Air launched flights at Kutaisi Airport in 2012 with one Airbus A320, adding a second aircraft to the base in 2018.
And from December 1, 2023, Wizz Air will add even a fourth aircraft to its base, as well as launching flights from Kutaisi to Copenhagen Airport.
