Aug 28, 2023 (newstodate): Today marks the grand opening of the Aviatic MRO hangar facility at Lithuania's Siauliai International Airport.
In September 2020, Aviatic landed an MoU with Israel's leading aerospace and MRO company, Israel Aerospace Industrie that will provide Aviatic with necessary licensing and know-how to perform P2F conversions of Boeing 737NG passenger aircraft.
Doors are now open to Aviatic's new 23,000 m2 aircraft maintenance and repair center that was initially planned to open already in 2022; but the process was delayed, first due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and next also by Russia's war on Ukraine.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport operates a 3,500 m CAT 1 runway - the longest in the Baltic region - and a second 3,280 m runway, and is a military/commercial airport owned jointly by Lithuania's Ministry of Defense and Siauliai Municipality.
In October 2021, Lithuania's Transport Competence Agency granted Siauliai Int'l Airport another five years status as international airport, securing a strong position to continue efforts to attract investors in the airport infrastructure, both relating to cargo, MRO and passenger operations.
The International Airport Certificate issued by the Transport Competence Agency proves that the aerodrome complies with the requirements of ICAO and EASA.
