Aug 25, 2023 (newstodate): Rumors have been circulating in the Estonian media of a growing risk of Nordica's bankruptcy.
This is, however, strongly refuted by the airline's spokesman.
-We do not comment on rumors or speculation, nor are we free to comment on commercial and contractual matters. We can confirm that Nordic Aviation Group's aircraft are serving all our existing customer base throughout Europe, says Airi Kaunissaare, Nordica Head of Marketing, Communications and Sustainability in a response to newstodate's inquiry.
-Regarding the recent news about our delayed tax payment, we reiterate our earlier clarification that due to a human error the Group companies, Regional Jet OÜ and Nordic Aviation Group AS, had outstanding tax liabilities for a limited number of days.
-The tax bill was paid in full by August 18, and both companies have no outstanding tax liabilities, says Mr Kaunissaare.
To restructure the company's business, the Board has contracted the international aviation consultancy Knighthood Global for a period of up to six months, during which all operations and cost structure of the company will be revised.
On July 26, 2023, the Board appointed Remco Althuis, the lead of the turnaround consultancy team, as the company's new interim CEO after the demise of Jan Palmer, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board since 2018.
Headquartered in Tallinn, the group operates flights under two brands, two IOSA-certified AOC’s - XFLY operating nine ATR72-600 and nine CRJ900, and NORDICA operating four A320 aircraft.
Xfly and Nordica operate within the framework of long-term ACMI partnerships with SAS, TAP and MARABU and for the summer 2023 with Cyprus Airways.
