Aug 22, 2023 (newstodate): Based at Male Airport, in the Maldives, the coming new luxury airline BEOND is soon to take in its first aircraft and plans to launch services later this year.
Heading the carrier as its CEO is Estonian national Tero Taskila, well-known in the Baltic aviation industry from earlier positions with companies including Estonian Air and airBaltic.
Beond is now awaiting the delivery of its first aircraft, an Airbus A319 with only 44 seats compared to a normal seating of 150 passengers; in 2024, Beond plans to move on to a larger aircraft, an Airbus A321 seating 68 instead of normally 220 passengers promising ample legroom for affluent travelers to the Maldives.
Beond will start out with flights from Dubai and Delhi, planning for adding flights to Hong Kong in 2024 as well as to five destinations in China as - or if - the company matures.
