Aug 07, 2023 (newstodate): The Vilnius-based ACMI and charter carrier Avion Express does not conceal its plans for a sustained and massive growth in aircraft fleet.
Today, the fleet of Avion Express comprises 12 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, and its Maltese subsidiary Avion Express Malta with an own Maltese AOC in May 2019 operates another 27 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, making Avion Express a world leader in the narrow-body wet-lease business.
Rather surprisingly, Avion Express now claims to be operating a fleet of 50 aircraft, of which 13 are thus still not accounted for in the official media.
Development is however not to stop by the 50-aircraft mark; according to Darius Kajokas, CEO of Avion Express, the carrier is now aiming at a fleet of 60 aircraft by 2024 and plans to reach 100 A320 family aircraft by 2027.
The company is currently in the process of obtaining a Brazilian AOC and pertinent licenses from the country's regulator, and expects to commence operations in Q4 2023 or Q1 2024 with a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, including Airbus A321F aircraft, to support the airline’s cargo operations.
The goal is to grow steadily and expand the fleet of Avion Express Brazil to a double-digit number of aircraft within the first two years of operations, the company states.
