Aug 8, 2023 (newstodate): July 2023 saw volumes on Finnair flights rebound with an 18 percent increase, y-o-y.
A total of 10,909 tonnes was carried, including 5,860 tonnes on the Asian lanes that also grew heftily in volumes by 34.5 percent despite the longer flying hours and more costly operations due to the bypassing of closed Russian airspace.
1,154 tonnes were carried on the NAM flights - a decline by 57.5 percent, y-o-y, reflecting the carrier's discontinued operations between Sweden and the US launched in October 2021 but stopped again from winter 2022/23 as Finnair instead invested its capacity in the strategic cooperation with Qatar Airways taking effect from November 2022, closing down its hub at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Seen against pre-Covid July 2019, Finnair's cargo volumes are still lagging behind; in July '19 the company carried a total of 14,783 tonnes of cargo, of which Asian loads accounted for 10,464 tonnes
In the first seven months of this year, Finnair has seen total volumes up by three percent, y-o-y, to 75,812 tonnes
