Jul 25, 2023 (newstodate): Still facing an uncertain future after the end of this summer schedule, the Swedish charter carrier Novair has been forced to lease external capacity to cater for its contracts with Apollo and Bravo Tours.
Novair has thus taken in a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on an ACMI contract till the end of October 2023, as an addition to its fleet of two Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The ACMI lease will secure back-up for Novair that will see both Airbus aircraft in for heavy six-years maintenance service after this summer's peak traffic.
The Boeing 373-800 aircraft will be operating 13 weekly charter flights from Billund, Copenhagen and Stockholm to leisure destinations.
Novair and the Danish charter and ACMI carrier Jettime share ownership by Jet Nordic Group, owned by Danish investor Lars Thuesen - but all Jettime capacity is fully booked through the summer schedule, rendering the sister carrier unable to support Novair.
The tour operator Apollo's decision to cancel its existing cooperation with Novair with the last operation by the end of this summer's schedule dealt a heavy blow to the carrier's future that remains unsettled.
Should all efforts to find new business end without a result, as is currently the more likely scenario, Novair will be closed down as a solvent company.
