Jul 31, 2023 (newstodate): Summing up cargo results during the first half of 2023, Iceland's Keflavik Airport was the only Nordic capital airport to end up with growth in volumes.
The smallest Nordic capital airport in volumes, Keflavik Airport thus handled a total of 29,930 tonnes in H1/23, a growth by 5.4 percent, y-o-y.
Reporting only flown cargo, Oslo Airport performed next-best, only two percent down on last year, with the handling of a total of 80,255 tonnes.
Third-best was Helsinki Airport that was down by six percent, y-o-y, to 83,635 tonnes in January-June '23.
Largest in the Nordic region in volumes including flown and trucked cargo was Copenhagen Airport that was still 15.1 percent low on H1/22, with volumes reaching 136,974 tonnes.
Performing with the largest deficit in volumes compared to H1 2022 was Stockholm Airport where volumes dipped to 53,202 tonnes, down 15.1 percent, y-o-y.
The statistics provided by Oslo Airport are, however, marred by the fact that at least 50 percent of the shipments handled at the airport are trucked cargo not accounted for. If included, Oslo Airport would rightly claim the #1 position in the Nordic region. And if figures from Copenhagen Airport are cleansed of trucked cargo, the airport in H/2023 handled "only" 81,663 tonnes - roughly on a par with Oslo Airport...
