Jul 25, 2023 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport reports a drop by 11.8 percent, y-o-y, in cargo volumes during the first half of this year.
A total of 136,974 tonnes of cargo, legacy and integrators combined, was handled at the airport during January-June 2023, with cargo on legacy carriers alone accounting for 92,566 tonnes.
However, cargo on legacy carriers was down 13.7 percent, y-o-y, primarily due to the slow growth in belly cargo that contributed 43,908 tonnes, but down 21.4 percent in H1/2023.
The sustained negative growth in legacy cargo is attributed mainly to the slow development of the Asian traffic.
The airport is also still fighting to grow its volumes of cargo on legacy freighter traffic; in H1/2023 the airport handled a total of 188 tonnes in this segment, which is more than the 105 tonnes handled in all of 2022 - but a far cry from earlier pre-corona years.
