Jun 16, 2023 (newstodate): Eyeing mutual benefits, two North Atlantic carriers are to enhance cooperation: Iceland's Icelandair and the Faroe Islands' Atlantic Airways.
The two carriers have signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation, seeing great opportunities in offering their customers convenient connections between the Faroe Islands and Icelandair's destinations in Europe and North America.
-For decades, we have worked with Icelandair in connecting the Faroe Islands and Iceland. American tourists are an important and growing segment in the Faroe Islands, and this LOI paves the way for even closer connectivity to Iceland and Icelandair’s extensive network of routes to the US and Europe, says Johanna a Bergi, Atlantic Airways CEO, in a comment.
Starting from May 1, 2024, Icelandair will operate up to six weekly rotations between Keflavik and Vagar during the summer schedule, using Dash-8 Q400 aircraft on the route.
The Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways is already operating scheduled flights between the two points, with three weekly rotations reinstated in June 2020 after the suspension of flights during the Covid-19.
