Jun 13, 2023 (newstodate): The US regulator FAA has now completed the handling of the Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines' request for an exemption to launch of US operations.
On April 17, 2023, the airline filed its application for an exemption and foreign air carrier permit to launch commercial scheduled operations between Europe and the American market - and having met no objections from interested parties in the industry, FAA has approved the request for exemption on June 6, 2023.
-The authority sought by the applicant is encompassed by the U.S.-Ukraine Air Transport Agreement. We therefore find that grant of the requested exemption authority, for a two-year term, or until the requested permit authority becomes effective, whichever occurs earlier, is warranted, FAA states.
SkyUp Airlines can thus now engage in charter passenger and cargo transportation between Europe and the USA.
Next to come is now confirming SkyUp Airlines' application for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit allowing for scheduled operations - while still pending, this issue, too, is expected to be handled smoothly and fast by FAA.
